Probably, one of the greatest cars ever made. Period!

And a great interview – loved the way Mr. Comas delt with everything in a very gentleman-type kind of way – from the way he dressed his racing suit, to the way he talked.

Thank you 400-euro-job and thank you Mr. Comas.

How wonderful that such a gorgeous design can win the European championship so many decades after it was designed. Obviously a masterpiece. What a cool dude, clearly a professional at the top of his game yet such a nice guy. Stunning videography. A piece of art both the film and the car. Thank you 400-euro-job p

Comas uses a phrase in French, “la bete à gagner”, which he says is is a name used to describe this car. Then Comas says that he prefers the English name for the car which is ‘the rally queen’. But la bete à gagner is different. It means quite literally, the beast that wins. I do better with la bete à gagner.

“La bete a gagner” in English means “The beast to beat / dominate”. Walter Röhrl once said: A true sports car must scare you when you approach to enter…”

I love that in the closed captioning, when there is only the sound of the car, is says (MUSIC)

I watched this with the closed caption on, and I love that [music] and [applause] would come up any time the engine was the only audio coming through. I think that’s an excellent description of what we got to hear.

Really excellent vid. Nice to see a rare car both being used and cherished at the same time.
That front windscreen is amazing. An ugly duckling and swan at the same time.

I was stupefied by “the handling is perfect”,. I remembered that Sandro Munari used to say of the beast that “You can drive the same road, do the same thing in the ame place, and time and again it will react in a different way”, so I thought that the Stratos were fast, effective but also quite moody. Apparently, They just needed to be set up well… Personally, I also love- a lot – the successor of the Stratos, the Rally 037. It, too, was a car designed from the ground up to race – of the Beta Montercarlo it… Read more »

Just such a nice story. Love the Stratos and this little film goes a long way to explaining why it is the icon it is.

Every time I see one, I scream in pleasure like a little girl. Unfortunately, it’s way too far in between, the last time I saw one must be like 10 years ago. I would daily it if I owned one just so everybody else can see it! What a machine!!

When all said and done this is one of the all-time great cars, not kept in wraps, but used in the way that it was conceived, designed and built to be driven . And how.
Great film – proper racer, and my goodness what a sound. Thanks 400-euro-job.

One of the most evocative designs of any era. There is no mistaking the lines of this car and add to it the sound of that superb Ferrari V6 you have a match made in heaven. I ache to own one of these machines and it remains a part of my “wish” list. I’ve heard and read they can be a handful to drive given the short wheelbase but its obvious from the video Mr, Comas retains all the skills necessary to tame the beast. Few cars can match what this car was designed to do and to do it… Read more »

Great video to hear the racers perspective on this classic. My only memory of one is wondering if they could ever get me out because my legs were a little too long. Thanks for the memories and the Lancia!

How can a car be this ugly (by today’s manufacturers’ standards) and yet be so beautiful? When every cell in your body screams for more of this creature you realize that humans may have lost their way and replaced beauty with garnish.

But then PETROLICIOUS comes to the rescue and restores my faith in human kind. BRAVO!!! I have tears in my eyes.

Cannot remember the first time I saw a Stratos, but it seems to have always been with me since I was a child. One of my favorite all-time cars, and I’m beyond happy that someone is out there driving one as it was meant to be driven. Thank you.
